What is the Current Industrial Report?
The Current Industrial Report (CIR) program has been providing monthly, quarterly, and annual measures of industrial activity for many years. The primary objective of the CIR program is to produce timely, accurate data on production and shipments of selected products. MA333P addresses the “Pumps and Compressors” industry.
How can the CIR benefit you as a Pump Manufacturer?
This survey is an excellent barometer of trends within the pump and pumping equipment industries. In the past, firms have used the data from this survey to aid in a variety of strategic decision making processes, including the following:
Pump Manufacturers: Call for Participation
All companies manufacturing pumps in the United States are required to participate in the “Pumps and Compressors” Current Industrial Report (MA333P), submitting data annually to the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census. Provide Census with the name of the person that they should contact for submitting this data.
Is it mandatory?
Yes. We note that in an increasingly competitive business climate, information is the key to the effective management of limited resources. To supplement information already available on the manufacture of pumps, the US Census Bureau works with the Hydraulic Institute to develop relevant and useful data categories on the value of pumps and pumping equipment manufactured in the US.
How long does it take to complete this survey?
The reporting burden time for this collection is estimated to average 50 minutes -- including time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection information. While the survey may initially appear to be burdensome, most respondents have noted that it is fairly straightforward and requires relatively little time to complete.
When is the CIR MA333P due?
The MA333P report form for each year is due by the end of the first week in February. Your firm should mark this date on your calendar, and submit data required for the MA333P on a timely basis. The collective data results will prove to be time well spent!
