HI is a Charter Partner of the US DOE Motor Challenge Program and became an Allied Partner with the US DOE in 2000 (HI press release) to promote energy conservation and awareness with a focus on pumps and pumping systems.
What is an Allied Partner?
Key to the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy BestPractices initiative are its Allied Partners. Allied Partners are manufacturers, trade associations, industrial service and equipment providers, utilities, and other organizations that agree to champion and help promote increased energy efficiency and productivity for those industries that participate in ITP's Industries of the Future strategy.
And, industry isn't the only group to benefit from the alliance. Allied Partners themselves increase their value to their clients by helping them achieve plant efficiencies. This translates to a competitive edge in the marketplace. As Allied Partners, service providers and suppliers gain access to BestPractices information and tools, including training modules, and OIT assistance in telling their stories—creating positive publicity within their industries and with existing and potential customers.
Activities of the Allied Partners
The Allied Partner initiative began in 1995 under the Motor Challenge program and has grown consistently through the years. Today, more almost 200 companies are OIT Allied Partners. You can find out more about who's involved by checking out the Allied Partner database.
The primary activity of the Allies is their involvement in project teams that assess plant efficiencies and demonstrate application of efficiency improvements. Allies either participate as members of a larger project team or initiate projects of their own with their customers. OIT assists with training and materials and with public recognition of the efficiency projects and the partners.
