… Just a few of the many positive comments offered by attendees at HI’s Spring Meeting held at the well-appointed Oakbrook, IL Marriott Resort on June 24-27. Each year the Institute provides a forum (both business and social) for representatives from pump and supplier OEMs, engineering firms (as new HI Standards Partners), to meet, network and participate in HI’s technical committees and establish a formal relationship with the Institute and its technical work efforts. During the recent meeting, over twenty committees gathered to address industry-critical issues including standards development, guidelines, electronic data exchange protocols, and more.
HI introduced the Human Resources Network, new for 2009, designed to provide industry HR executives and CEOs with a unique opportunity to meet, mingle, and explore common HR issues and trends. Keynote speakers, Melissa Siebert, partner in the law firm, K&L Gates, updated attendees on recent changes in employment and labor laws; Kevin Sheridan, CEO, HR Solutions, Inc., provided details on how to create a magnetic culture in an organization. Attendees agreed that the presentations were “excellent” and “sources for very valuable information.” It was suggested that more member and prospect CEOs should be encouraged to participate, involve their HR executives, and help “grow” this new and outstanding event, so that there can be an even greater sharing of possible solutions to human capital issues confronting the pump industry, now and for the future.
