Pump Knowledge Workshop: Level Monitoring & Control
Friday, February 19, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Julian Atchia, New Product Development Manager, SJE-Rhombus®
Julian will provide a presentation on Level Monitoring Devices as they apply to pumps and pumping systems. From conventional float-type level monitors to wireless and non-contact monitors, these versatile devices are widely used in industrial, commercial, and residential pump applications. He will focus on the new technology employed for level monitoring with improved reliability and accuracy and discuss the advantages these devices have when remote monitoring is necessary.

Pump Knowledge Workshop: Electronic Data Exchange Nears—Are you Ready?

The Hydraulic Institute is launching the new landmark standard, HI 50.7-2010, titled “Electronic Data Exchange for Pumping Equipment” in the first quarter of 2010. HI 50.7 provides a common standard for the digital exchange of technical data for pumping equipment and guidance for implementing these requirements in software applications supporting electronic data exchange within an enterprise and between various stakeholders in the design, purchase, manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance of pumping equipment. This standard was developed in collaboration with the FIATECH/AEX project and is endorsed by API 610, 11th ed./ISO 13709, 2nd ed.; and the ASME B73 Standards. This EDE standard is intended for use by business leaders, engineers, and information technologists at organizations involved in processing technical data for all types of pumping equipment. Features of the standard and the roll-out strategy will be presented.

Putting “Performance” Into High-Performance Teams

Howard M. Guttman, Principal, Guttman Development Strategies, Inc.
In today’s business organizations, every team, on every level, needs to be a highperformance one. In this session, Howard Guttman introduces the concept of the “Team-Development Wheel”: a four-stage cycle through which teams move on the road to high performance. Mr. Guttman describes the characteristics and payoffs of each stage. He explores the roles of both the leader and team members in moving from Stage 1 to Stage 4, where the team operates, in effect, as a mini “board of directors.” Mr. Guttman isolates five “alignment musts,” without which high-performing teams—and organizations—are not possible. He provides a template for team self-assessment and lays out a strategy for driving accelerated levels of team performance.

Leading in a Crisis: Tough Times Don’t Build Character…They Reveal It… How Will You Handle Your Crisis

You will discuss what occurs to your organization in a crisis…how is it “different?”; the impact of your facilities, logistics, and your people; what the impact is on your leaders; and how you set the conditions to absorb the crisis before it hits. You will leave with a new-found focus and better prepared to ensure your organization will “be prepared.”

Europump Updates: The Latest from the European Pump Industry

Join us for an update on what’s happening with the European pump industry-including new regulations on energy efficiency, product labeling and systems approaches. Europump will also extend an invitation to HI pump manufacturers to their 2010 Annual meeting in Paris, France, May 26 – 29, 2010—part of the HI/ Europump Mutual Cooperation Agreement.
