ANSI/HI 9.6.6 Rotodynamic Pumps for Pump Piping

Overview:

This standard details pump piping requirements for rotodynamic pumps and effects of inlet/outlet piping on pump performance. This standard is applicable to all piping downstream and upstream from the pump but not when entering tank, vessel or intake structure. This standard is intended to complement ANSI/HI 9.8 Rotodynamic Pumps for Pump Intake Design.

This standard applies to all markets worldwide, and is specially important for petrochemical, chemical process and water, waste water and energy utilities industries. Pump manufacturers, engineering procurement contractors, industry consultants and pump end users should utilize this standard to ensure proper piping design and reliable pump operation.

What’s New:

This standard supersedes the ANSI/HI 9.6.6-2016 edition. Updates in the new edition include:

  • Revised required minimum number of straight run pipe diameters for some reducers
  • Revised suction maximum allowable velocity – now a recommendation in lieu of a requirement
  • New Appendix G Modifications or improvements to non-conforming existing systems
  • Pump station retrofit or modification expanded in new Appendix G and expansion of Appendix E.2
  • Requirements now clearly identified in itemized list by numbers in each section
  • Guidance information follows in “Notes” portion of each section
  • Numerous technical and editorial changes to improve clarity throughout body of standard and appendices
