ANSI/HI 9.6.8-Rotodynamic Pumps – Guideline for Dynamics of Pumping Machinery

The 2021 edition is a reaffirmation of the 2014 edition with no substantive changes but may include formatting or editorial changes

Overview:

This guideline describes and recommends the means to appropriately evaluate pumping machinery construction attributes and relevant site characteristics in order to determine the effects of dynamic performance on equipment life and reliability. It describes and recommends various levels of detailed dynamic analysis commensurate with the degree of equipment uncertainty and application risk, and provides sample specifications so that dynamic analysis can be specified consistently and understood by the analysist.

This guideline is applicable to all markets that use rotodynamic pumps, but is most important for custom engineered pumps, and pumps that have higher risk factors for resonance, such as variable speed pumping. Pump system designers and specifying engineers should use this guideline in the procurement process and end users and consultants can use this guideline in the trouble shooting of pumps in resonance. Note that this guideline has been reaffirmed with minor editorial changes.
